George P. Bush confirmed today that he will address the 2011 Republican Leadership Conference and Reagan Centennial Celebration.
Bush, a Texas attorney, real estate developer and U.S. Naval Reserves officer, is the son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and grandson of former President George H.W. Bush. He has previously campaigned for Republican candidates across America and has addressed Republican National Conventions beginning in 1988.
George recently returned from a mobilization in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in his capacity as a Naval Reserves Intelligence Officer where he was deployed to Afghanistan under the Special Operations Command.
He is a vocal advocate of volunteerism and public service. During high school, George volunteered in Miami’s Little Havana, teaching kids to play baseball as a way to keep them out of trouble. During college, where he was a freshman walk-on to the baseball team at Rice University, he continued to combine baseball and mentoring in a Saturday morning program administered by his church, working with at-risk children in the Greater Houston area and teaching them the basics of the sport as well as the critical skills they would need in life.
George’s current focus is on providing direction and management of investor relations functions in addition to sourcing and providing analysis of potential investment opportunities with Pennybacker Capital in Austin, Texas. Prior to joining Pennybacker, he practiced corporate and securities law with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld LLP. While practicing in the Investment Funds Group at Akin Gump, he was selected as one of Texas Monthly’s “Rising Stars” (2005).
