Marsha Blackburn to Speak at RLC 2011
U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn confirmed today that she will address the 2011 Republican Leadership Conference. RLC 2011 will be held in New Orleans on June 16-18th and will feature, in addition to Congressman Blackburn, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Mary Matalin and others.

Marsha Blackburn represents the 7th District of Tennessee and is one of the nation’s most recognizable conservative leaders. She began her elected service career in 1998 as a Tennessee State Senator.
While serving in the Tennessee Senate, Blackburn led a statewide grassroots campaign to defeat a proposed state income tax. She earned the reputation as a champion of anti-tax and government reform issues, frequently appearing on local talk radio and even earning the attention of national publications like the Wall Street Journal and conservative groups such as Americans for Tax Reform.
Blackburn’s reputation for focusing on individual freedom and free enterprise boosted her from the Tennessee Senate to the U.S. House of Representatives. Blackburn was first elected to represent Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District in 2002, quickly becoming a leader in Congress and a leading voice advocating for a small, efficient federal government that is accountable to its citizens.
Blackburn serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee where she is vice-chair of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade (CMT). As CMT vice-chair, she also sits on the Subcommittee on Oversight. Blackburn serves on two other critical Energy and Commerce Subcommittess: Health and Communications and Technology.She is the author of vital legislation to stop the government regulation of the Internet and also to institute vital consumer-focused health care reform.
